Underway

It is now just past 1 AM local time and we have been underway for over an hour. It is incredibly smooth and so much faster than I expected. We have passed two other Viking ships that were heading into Amsterdam at the end of their voyages as we are heading out. There are lots of other ships too. Surprisingly we are passing each other at cruising speeds some as close  as 40 to 50 ft.

Even though the temperature is in the 50s we have the door to the water open. They call our room a French balcony but there really is no balcony to it.  You can stand against the railing and watch the world go by.

The floor in the bathroom is heated so your feet are comfortable as you take care of business. While the shower is tiny, the towels are huge!

We have met a few people and all are near my age. There is one empty room so there are a total of 188 passengers on board. All except two handfuls are from the States.  The others are from Canada, Australia and one German. Virtually all the food service and room attendants are Filipino so Liza can speak to them in Tagalog.
