Liza & Bob's Tiny Vacation

Someone is going to construe this as complaining. It isn't meant to be, just a series of observations. Did you know that a Boeing 767-300 can fly for over 9 hours? And I suspect a lot longer as the return leg of our vacation is going to be into the wind. On top of that I believe the FAA, or whatever the international version of it is, requires that they carry enough fuel to go to a secondary airport if the original destination is socked in. That means they carry a lot of fuel. And Delta made the choice to carry a lot of people. All that was obvious when we took off in Salt Lake City.  The run out took forever to get the gear off the runway and then our rate of climb was enimic.

We were in a Boeing 767-300ER, which I presume stands for Extended Range. In the cattle car seats where we were the seat arrangement was two, an aisle, three, an aisle and than two more. That certainly made the seats narrow but that wasn't the issue. What mattered was the distance, or lack thereof, between the seats. They were so close that Liza, the Liza with those little  short legs, complained. Her statements weren't observations. After pointing it ten or twelve times, I had to resort  to the "It is what it is." Nine plus hours later I was much more sympathetic. I don't know if it had been an evolutionary thing that I had missed because I haven't flown in so long or if Delta had just made a business decision to see how many people they could jam in before people  made  other choices.

Luckily we got through immigration and customs at Schiphol in record time. After the short wait for the bus, we got to our ship really early. Surprisingly our room was ready. Very impressive. I was prepared for small room but I think this one qualifies as tiny. The bed was billed as two twins put together to form a queen. I don't think they were really twins and the resultant was closer to a double. You can only pass down the side of the bed toward the window and that is sideways. My shoulders touched the wall and the glass door if I turned in that direction.

But the worst part was if I didn't turn in that direction. I then was turned toward the vanity mirror. No one should have to look at what I saw. It is way too late for a diet.
